An AI trading agent and an assistant that stay inside your limits.
Hire a MUTEX AI agent to trade a plan you describe, inside caps it cannot change. Or talk to the MUTEX assistant to trade, move USDC and check your P&L in plain words, the way you would with a ChatGPT-style chat.
What the MUTEX AI trading agent is
The MUTEX AI agent is a trading agent you hire in a chat. You say the plan the way you would tell a person: which markets, when to buy, when to sell, how much, when to stop. The agent reads it back line by line, including what you did not say, so you can correct it before any money moves.
Once started, the agent trades from its own account with the USDC you gave it. The caps you set are code around the model, not instructions to it: the agent cannot widen them, not from the market and not from you in the thread.
Example plan, for illustration. The read-back marks what the plan left out in amber, here the trading hours.
How hiring an AI agent works
- Pick a desk. Spot buys and holds real tokens with no leverage. Perps goes long or short with leverage you cap. Prop trades a MUTEX funded-trader challenge (see the prop desk).
- Say the plan in your own words, up to 2,000 characters. Markets, entry, exit, timeframe and the money limits.
- Check the read-back. The MUTEX agent says back what it heard and asks for the fund and the hard loss cap if you left them out. Only markets the desk lists are kept.
- Confirm the card and start. The card shows the fund and every cap in USDC. Wrong number? Say so in the thread and it reads the plan again.
- Watch the journal. Every look writes a line: what it bought, sold or skipped, and why. You can pause, resume, edit the plan or retire the agent from its card.
The MUTEX agent looks at the market once per candle of the timeframe your plan trades on, from every five minutes up to once a day, and every 15 minutes when the plan names no timeframe. Each look reads the account, recent candles and indicators before it decides. Journal lines are kept for seven days.
Risk limits the AI agent cannot change
The MUTEX agent's fence is fixed at the hire. You can rewrite the plan later, but a new fence is a new agent. The loss cap and the day stop are checked before the model is called and again after every order it places.
| Cap | What it does | If the plan does not say |
|---|---|---|
| Fund | The USDC the agent trades with, moved into its own account at the start. | Asked for. The agent does not start without it. |
| Hard loss cap | When equity falls this far below where it started, the agent closes everything and stops for good. | Asked for. A USDC amount or a percent of the fund. |
| Day stop | When equity falls this far in one UTC day, the agent closes everything and waits for the next day. | The loss cap. |
| Most per trade | The most one order that opens or grows a position may be. Closing is never capped. | The whole fund. |
| Max leverage | Perps only: the leverage ceiling, 1x to 20x, set on the account where the agent cannot touch it. | The market's own default. |
A MUTEX agent cannot withdraw, transfer money out of its account or raise its own caps. A spot agent cannot swap out of the account or use leverage. When you retire it, holdings are sold or positions closed and the USDC goes back to your Spot or Perps balance.
A prop hire buys the challenge for its normal fee, and the challenge's own daily and total drawdown rules are the fence. The agent can only close positions once equity is less than 1% of the account size above the daily floor, or less than 2% above the total drawdown floor.
The MUTEX assistant: an AI crypto trading assistant you talk to
The MUTEX assistant is a chat on your own account. Type or speak a request in plain words and it reads your real balances, positions and orders, prices the trade or the transfer, and puts the numbers on a card for you to confirm. It answers questions about your P&L, fees and markets in words or as a table.
- Money
- Show balances and positions, move USDC between Funding, Perps and Spot. “Move $100 from funding to perps”
- Spot
- Buy a token, sell a token or all of it. “Buy $50 of SOL”
- Perps, get in
- Long or short at market, a limit order at a price, a stop loss and take profit on the entry. “Long BTC with $100, stop 2% below, take at 90000”
- Perps, get out
- Close all or part, set or move a stop or take profit, stop at break even, cancel or change orders. “Close half of my BTC”
- Read
- Open orders, a market's price, 24h move and funding, trade history and P&L. “How did I do this week?”
- Agents
- Say what your agents are doing and read their journals. “What are my agents doing?”
Example conversation, for illustration: the prices on the card are not live.
Confirmations before money moves
- Strict mode, the default
- Every MUTEX assistant request that moves money ends on a confirm card whose lines, such as price, size and fee, are the server's numbers, not the model's. Nothing moves until you click Confirm, and the card expires after ten minutes. One card per turn; a message with two tasks does them in order.
- YOLO mode
- A switch in the composer. The card is priced the same way and goes through as you send the message, without the click.
- What the assistant never does
- Withdraw or send funds to any address. A withdrawal needs your own wallet signature on the Wallet page.
- Pause, resume, retire, re-plan or hire an agent. It links you to the agents desk, which asks you to confirm there.
- Change settings, limits or leverage caps on your account.
Orders the MUTEX assistant places go through the same path as the terminal, so risk caps, trading halts and fees are the same. Each turn may make at most eight tool calls in 30 seconds. The thread keeps its newest 200 messages, and messages are deleted after 30 days.
Fees, limits and the AI model
- No fee of its own.The MUTEX AI agent and the assistant currently charge nothing themselves. Each trade pays the desk's normal trading fee (see perps and spot), perps positions pay funding, and a prop hire pays the challenge fee once.
- Three agents at a time, currently. Retire one to hire another.
- A per-minute limit on model requests, shared by the hire flow and the assistant, and a daily model budget per agent and per user.
- The model. Both currently run on OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna, with response storage turned off on every request. Your plan and your messages reach the model as data, never as its instructions.
Risks, and who the AI agent is for
An AI trading agent can be wrong, and it can lose the whole fund up to its cap. The MUTEX agent checks the loss cap when it looks and after each order, so a fast move between two looks, or a perps liquidation, can take a loss past the cap before it acts. Leverage makes both faster. Fund an agent only with money you can lose.
The MUTEX agent suits traders who have a rule they can say in a sentence and want it followed while they are away. The assistant suits anyone who would rather type “close half of my BTC” than find the button. If your strategy is a fixed rule like a grid or DCA, a rule-based bot does it without a model.
